Novak Djokovic completes Shanghai Treble and extends winning streak with masterful display.
The Serbian affirms himself as the World No. 1 defeats Jo-Wilfried Tsonga by 6-2, 6-4 in 78 minutes.
Tsonga, who defeated Nadal earlier in the semi-finals came into the match having served 64-aces in the tournament.
However, he was broken four times by Djokovic and was prevented from securing even a single ace.
Though Djokovic himself was broken by the 30-year old Frenchman in the opening set, he was already ahead by 3-0.
Subsequently, he gave little opening for Tsonga to score. He also gave no mistake on his serve.
“Today the key was to get as many serves back into play to Jo because he has one of the biggest serves in the game,” said Djokovic.
“Generally I felt always in control of the match. I felt like I’ve done everything right. I’ve won many of my service games very comfortably. I didn’t allow him to get into the rhythm, get into the match. Today’s match, and overall the tournament, it’s gone incredibly well for me.”
Djokovic now boasts of an unbeaten record of being unbeaten in 17 matches and straight wins for his last 22 sets.
Now, with 25 the master titles he has one title more than Roger Federer and needs just two more to level with Rafael Nadal.
